The Role of Serotonin in Theology of MDD
There is no conclusive evidence that there is abnormality in serotonin and neuropinephrine individuals who have major depressive disorder. Serotonergic receptors are located both in pyramidal neurons in the prefrontal cortex and also on various types of GABA-interneurons. And whenever we manipulate serotonin and Neuropinephrine, we're indirectly manipulating that micro unit in a prefrontal cortex. It could be explained why it can take several weeks for mono aminergic drugs to work.
