There's something about the written word that leads us down this path of abstraction. We lose the nonverbal communication and even just the felt sense of being in relationship as we're communicating with another person. And so bringing that back into our bodies is a way of breaking the abstraction. William Burroughs kind of has it right, but he's not going far enough.
