Why Are We Consuming Energy?
We burn energy to maintain a high standard of living. We would pay more to put lead in your gasoline, right? You might even save money doing that. So there's an economic benefit. But there's a cost to people who aren't in that transaction. The key is capitalism doesn't solve externalities on its own. That's why they exist in the first place: They require regulation.
