The idea about the four loves permeates lewis's writing. The very first time you hear mention of all four loves altogether, is in one letter to warney. A lewis mary's joy in 19 56 to extend his citizenship, and then again in 19 57 to marry her for real. So think about love as being something that louis is thinking about throughout his life.
