The Importance of the Hindoo Philosophy
In western christianity, it has always been thought that there is only one unmotivated being, and this would be god. In studying the philosophy of the hindus, we have to get used to the idea that it's really an illusion to suppose that every event is motivated, determined or caused by the past. What they call calma or causation by the past, is in fact, maya or unreality. And thus it is through the realization that he is that eternal now, not his past, that arjuna is able to act in a free way.
