The 13th century is sometimes called the golden age of Norway. It's relatively peaceful, it's relatively prosperous. But in the 14th century things get a little shaky. The Hanseatic League takes control of quite a lot of Norwegian trade. Oslo lost essentially its capital status to Copenhagen.
