The Politics of the Bible

I am opposing what I, what I am opposing is the use of the Bible, cherry picking verses to oppose any public help for others. So it comes out of more progressive liberal urban areas where everyone votes very progressive and as, you know, spouses all this compassion for the poor. That's when people go, as long as I don't have to sacrifice anything, I'm all for helping the poor. We're very innovative in America. One of our greatest air quotes innovations is ways to read the Bible to get whatever you want out of it. And if there's no larger group or larger tradition to say, ah, that's really not, that'sreally not what that verse is
