Not everyone was happy about the changes the barrers implemented when they came to town. One of the most vocal maxime polly, had gone missing and turned up dead in her own well. Some farmers who were reluctant to sell land that had been i their family for generations said they suspected their live stock had been poisoned. Theye were rumblings o strong arm tactics used to buy out local businesses,. everything from sabotage ind shipments of goods to bribing members of the constabulary to outright blackmail of public officials.
