The Effects of High Sulfate Concentrations on Dry Matter Intake
Sulfate is often a primary contaminant, but it will not be the only contaminant in most natural systems. We've done several studies here at the university at our livestock and forage center that have looked at sulfates. But essentially as we increased sulfate concentration up to 3,300 parts per million, we saw very limited effects on dry matter intake,. Very limited effects on water intake. And we fed those cattle that high water sulfate for 84 days.
