The Kettering Bug

Inventors of the Kettering Bug tried to make a robot that could kill you. The French also had an unmanned explosive vehicle they employed in World War I and II. This is essentially the genesis of the bomb that killed Mika Johnson, who was blown up by a remote controlled car filled with explosives. It's basically the same thing as what the SFPD would like to use on people in San Francisco today.
