If the US government suddenly hardens down the radio telescopes whenever SETI people are there, I mean any rational person is going to think we found something. And it's become a self-fulfilling prophecy. We argue that instead of taking it as foregone, we should prevent it in the first place because after all, it's going to be based on misunderstanding.
