This chapter explores the escalating fear and crime within Los Angeles, highlighted by a disturbing attack on a family by a homeless individual. It addresses the conflicting emotions surrounding homelessness and public safety, and critiques the local authorities’ failure to manage rising crime rates. Personal experiences of sobriety are shared, underscoring the need for supportive environments in rehabilitation and the systemic challenges faced by those struggling with addiction.
