The F4: A Fun Airplane

The F4 was designed to be an unstable platform and then they put three axial axis stabilizing devices in there. When you touch the stick, there are micro switches in the base of the physical hand grip. Pull back just a little bit, turns off the pitch roll and yaw. Most guys did hold it wrong but at any rate, it was an unstable airplane. But my favorite quote about the F-4 was a Marine who said, I flew the F- 4 for three years and that never killed me.
