The Importance of Learning to Read
Heidi sent a book with the ABC and some rhymes for Peter to learn. When he refused she told him what would happen if he didn't want to learn. She said: 'When they find out you can't read or even spell they'll laugh at you' The boy was frightened but agreed that it could be done. He had no idea how difficult this might be until later in his life.
