PCR Test for Monkeypox

In order to make the diagnosis, we have to collect swabs of virus DNA from these lesions. Some labs would implement a two-step testing where they do an initial generic PCR test that would detect any orthopox virus. This is all extra. They're just swabbing the rectum externally. It's just putting a swab into their rectum and turning it 360 degrees.
