What's the Correct Response After That Initial No?
Don't be afraid to summarize a situation that sounds like it's against your best interests. The next most important thing to get out of somebody is that's right. If someone you're talking to says it to you they're telling you they feel empathy with you for that brief moment and there's a difference between empathy and sympathy. When they feel empathy from you they feel connected with you and they want to collaborate.
