Carouge and Legree - A Memoir

The two men, jean carouge and jacques legree, were the same age. They had been more or less social equals until they weren't. Their slow drift away from one another became even more pronounced in 13 80. Both his wife and his only child, the son that legree had once held as godfather, died. Jean went off on a military campaign to try to bolster his reputation.
