How to Prevent Therapy From Trailing Off Into Side Tangents
If we are doing the therapy to improve client outcomes, regardless of what the client wants, then yeah, the whole point is like, get shit done in the first 10 to 15 sessions. But if we are thinking about it from a consumer lens, what does the client want? I think the middle phase is where the client is actually experiencing the benefit that came early in therapy. And now they experience therapy as a support that they probably don't want to get rid of. This is how you prevent therapy from trailing off into side tangents or where you end up with clients who just kind of like, over time, you're like, you just don't think it's working anymore.
