The active share of institutions has decreased significantly over the last 40 years. The market portfolio is theoretically everything, literally all ownable assets. But as we talked about Fama, we can kind of proxy it with stock and bond index funds. It's still the optimal portfolio for the average investor in multi factor asset pricing theory.
Are index funds a menace to the market? Are pension funds still a wise way to secure your financial future? In this episode, we discuss index funds, the state-sponsored pension plan in Canada, and much more.
