The AHA's Guidelines for Historical Literacy

The goal of the AHA is to make our publics more literate historically. If we want to increase the level of historical literacy in the general public and among decision-makers, then we need to work harder at speaking to those people. One of the things that makes history different from, say, STEM disciplines is that STEM disciplines, what matters is what you do in the lab. That's not a plus or a minus superior inferior. That's just the difference in disciplines. We shouldn't need other people to translate what we do to broad audiences. We can do it ourselves as you do.
