Is There a Perfect Mother Figure Out There?
Don wants to believe that there's a nice mum figure out there. Marrying Betty was a way of trying to find a perfect mother figure he never had. It's pretty dark. The start that he had, Jekonna could have been a way for Don to just live in a less duplicitous way. But who knows with the environment that he lives in? Maybe he would never have gotten an interview at Sterling Cooper if he didn't look as though he came from the sort of the officer class because he wouldn't have looked the parts. And maybe he would never got that job in the first place.
