The impact site of the ten kilometer wide asteroid which hit the earth at this time is called the chikelub crater. It's nearly 200 kilometers in diameter, so you'd think it would be pretty hard to miss. The reason it took scientists so long to find it is that most of it under water in the gulf of mexico. Chikshela not only confirms the past, but points to a possible chilling future.
