Why Is Cobalt So Important?

Everybody listening to this podcast, and presumably listeng to potcas on their device, has has ten grams of cobalt in in that device. If they happen to be driving an electric vehicle, it could be closer to 10 or 20 kilograms of cobalt. Cobalt forms the most stable layered structures, so as you pull lithium out, it doesn't sort of disorder or change. It also has the greatest energy per molecule for lithium oxide battery by orders of magnitude. All of this to satisfy the incredible new demand as we enter a new age of battery metals.
