Dickens' Christmas Carol

Dickens wanted this to be a time of year in which we gave thought to the underprivileged. The story was published on the 19th of December and it was sold out by Christmas Eve. It's most certainly not a far stretch to imagine that a Scrooge like figure or plenty of Scroogelike figures were populating cities like London at the time.
