Meditation, if it involves highly focused states, is a form of setting the tether. Hypnosis is another you really kind of hand over the power of where you're directing your attention to something else. When then when you wake up, right, now that tether can be reset, you have the ability again. It's like you've recovered your mental capacity. And so that's kind of how I think about consciousness and the dopamine part. One thing in terroception and focus on your internal states tends to increase levels of neuromodulators like serotonin and oxytocin.
