The Importance of Recognizing God's Love
I think it's back to that catechism passage. We don't trust in the goodness of God. From the fall of man, Adam and Eve, the first thing they do after they fall is hide. Because what if you don't really love us? What if you're going to punish us? Most of us need to have our image of God rehabilitated. And so the second step is about admitting where we actually are in our view of God.
