The Importance of Roots in Carbon and Nitrogen Cycling

I was wondering if you could talk a little bit about your work with below-ground biomass roots. And how you've been trying to use that to understand the drivers of below-ground carbon and nitrogen cycling. Yeah. I feel like so roots were really the premise of my dissertation work. For example, we know that carbon derived from roots persists in the soil about two and a half times more than say a above-ground piece of residue that's decomposing. Understanding what's happening below-ground is critical for understanding overall carbon sequestration potential for a given system.
