The Importance of Building Progressive Media

We shouldn't expect the New York Times to save us, the mainstream media. We actually have to do the hard work of persuading people ourselves. The urgency of building up progressive media was brought even more to the forefront today with the news that BuzzFeed News was shutting down. Kevin McCarthy is not trying to remain Speaker of the House. He's trying to remain Leader of the Republican Congress. None of this is big picture politics. It's about continuing to stitch together the 218 votes he needs to remain Speaker. That is forcing his hand to do something the public has no appetite for in the long history of dumb, dangerous shit Republicans have done.
