The Fusiform Face Area

It's specifically a region in that a gyrus called the fusiform face area so we've known about this since the late 90s MRI studies show that this area the brain lights up in scans when people look at faces and usually only faces not bodies. Back in 2012 we had like the first very strong evidence of this part of the brain being used in facial recognition, which is really interesting because for a long time it was just correlation rather than causation.
