Is There a Malignant Demon That Is Deceiving Me?
Wes: I tried to write out the argument for the first two meditations, and that's where the logic gets really convaluted. He could have just said, you dont suppose there's a malignant demon that makes me think that everything that i think is true is false. What i see, what i know, what? But he goes through and does the whole sensory perception thing,. One is it's easier to comprehend and and more readable by certain kinds of readers and thinkers. A second thing is, what mark's point about him trying to doubt and then do some re establishment, that somehow this ties into that.
