Complexity and Emergence - What's the Key Discovery?

In your new work on complexity and emergence, what is the key discovery or insight that you expect can be made? What are the general conditions under which emergence happens? Is emergence generic? Will it always happen in a wide variety of theories? Or do you need a very special kind of theory? I think t there is a sort of quasi philosophical take, even though i's ultimately a more scientific question. People know there's been some work done on this, but just not enough.
