The Garris family went on a hike two years ago and didn't come home. They were in Silicon Valley but had moved to the Nevada foothills because they wanted to get away from the Valley. It's an example of how quickly you can get yourself in trouble, she says. Even people who are young and in relatively good shape can be vulnerable to these kinds of things.
