How to Diagnosis Thyroid Storm

Treatment for thyroid storm should be based on clinical suspicion, not lab values. The patient must have some degree of altered mental status in order for it to be thyroid storm and not just pyrotoxicosis. Infection could be what tips over the patient to thyroid storm. So look for it and if you find it, treat it aggressively.
