On YouTube, unsigned bands weren't able to just upload their music to Spotify and potentially be heard by millions of people 50 years ago. But on YouTube, an independent creator can do that. And that video can find an audience without the creator themselves putting a ton of effort into it. It is never before been possible to reach this many people to get this scale of distribution without a deal.
