The Importance of Meaning

Job is angry and protests all the time, but here also we should be very precise. He doesn't protest in this vulgar economic sense: I didn't deserve it. And what does Job do? It's incredible how spontaneously we try to falsify his image. There are three bad guys, three theologists there, who are precisely providers of meaning. Their underlying hypothesis or axiom is it must have some meaning if we know it or not. The absolute greatness, that's undescribable ethical revolution, I think, of Job is to reject this meaning.
