In 1994, a physicist hypothesized that regardless of the mode and the circumstances of transportation, people will spend about one hour per day commuting. A recent MIT study confirms Marchetti's Constant. People who commuted more than 10 miles spent an hour a day on average commuting. But so too did people who commuted only one or two miles.
