The Problem With the DC 9's EPR
The DC nine, like the amount of thrust it was putting back from its engines would probably be about 60 miles an hour of wind at about 300 degrees. The first officer noticed the plane didn't seem to have the power that was indicated by his engine pressure ratio indicated. So they bug it, and you know, they give they increase the thrust until the EPR hits 2.04. It melts some of the ice at the front of the wing but then it just blows it back over the wing where it rephrases.
