The Religious Valence of the Manhattan Project
There's an interesting parallel right to the birth of the atomic age. I mean, you mentioned the word atomic as being this sort of magic word back in the 50s and 60s. And there was a real sense in some of the language at the beginning of the atomic Age of such a kind of religious valence to this thing that we're getting at the heart of creation. It seems to me that many tech people who are trying to assess whether or not this is AGI have responsibility to bring this new subjectivity into being.
