The Night the Wall Came Down
The night of 9 November 1989 is known as the Night the Wall came down. Crowds gathered on both sides of the historic crossings waiting for hours to cheer bulldozers that tore down portions of the wall. This also was one of the key events leading to the collapse of the Soviet Union, which happened a year later in 1991.
