The Importance of Deliberation in Democracy

The former orientation towards democratic politics is basically saying that what we need to do is solve people's problems better, right? You know, we want government and other institutions to give people what they need better. And Daniel suggests that sort of, you know, yes ending that by saying that the processes by which we do democracy are perhaps should be our primary focus. So in other words, if we just kind of technocratically tried to identify what people's needs are, it may be missing this kind of bottom layer upon which the health of the entire apparatus depends.
