The Importance of DIS
There is almost always something conspicuous, something strange or peculiar in evidence. It can also be very difficult to get to the root of the situation as this often involves complex family systems that are particularly well suited at warding off any kind of outside intervention at all. For example, even the work of simply looking, empathising, and understanding may entail great, perhaps even unbearable pain. The avoidance system that the person has spent a lifetime maintaining becomes fragile, internally, and externally.
