It took 80 years to go from a technology that seems totally good to go before you can actually do it. It was several years before even backspace worked on email. Even when it's totally clear we have well functioning AI, it's going to take to realize his potential will be decades. We'll start seeing a lot of the payoffs. They'll become visible in a few years. But to have the revolutionary effect is basically going to be in the time of your kids if economic history gives us any guide.
