Our picture of gaius, of course, is constructed by plutarch. We do have a little bit from the historian appian as well,. And they both have their axes to grind. I'm not sure that we can say there's no substance with gaius. But yes, he certainly comes off as a more extravagant speaker, more showy. Some romans would have criticised that that's something that's drawing attention to yourself too much.
