The Alternate View of Thinness
There are some data that suggest that women want to be thinner than what men prefer. But I've also seen other data where they had men and women kind of select their ideal body type, and men and women's preferences were pretty strongly aligned. So one thing that being thin does is actually, no, there are data on this, that being thin is associated with facial attractiveness. And so what I wonder is possibly if women are maybe overshooting men's preferences and airing on the side of a little too thin, they might actually be enhancing their facial attractiveness at the cost of their body attractiveness. Now that's speculative, but it could be one hypothesis for what's going on there.
