Can You Be a Feminist and Have Plastic Surgery?
For trans women, this is really specifically, it's about protecting their lives and being in danger. If they're passing as heteronormative women, then they're more likely to be safe. But on the other hand, you have this kind of shaming of, oh my God, all these procedures they've had to do that as if those are shameful and bad in themselves. I don't think we should fault women for perpetuating the male gaze. It's the reality of the world we live in. There's something really easy about the stigmatization of going under the knife and the shame around it.
