Ancient Egyptian Love Spells
The earliest known example of love magic is found on a clay tablet from an area of Iraq that was once home to the ancient city of Kish. One Egyptian love spell begins by hailing the gods, naming the man's love interest and then requesting that she be drawn to him like a cow after grass. As culture shifted in different places, the ways in which lovemagic was used also shifted with it.
