An igneous rock isn't about to transform back at any time. And ice is on the precipice of transforming. But there are some answers that have been proposed. One was worked out in the 19th century by a scientist called James Thompson. He's more famous for being the brother of another famous scientist called Lord Kelvin who has the temperature thing named after him.
