What Are National Champions?
National champions are often large firms or group of firms in a given industry, which you treat almost as a jewel. Often, traditionally, they were owned by the government, but it need not be. And the idea there is these entities may not just be doing a solely narrow economic, saving economic goals, but it could also serve social and national security goals.
