The Importance of Surprise in Hymns

I can't think of an example of a hymn that maybe maybe some of the hymns that don't surprise me would have been surprising. One of my favorites is greatest that I faithfulness and it's got it's got a diminished chord which is just basically I don't need to go into it but it's an expensive chord.
