Is the Contentious Social Issue Critical?
i think you could pretty easily find examples of ways in which s p s p ands and most scientific organizations take a stand, either explicitly or implicitly. So there's lots of political questionsa that are not contentious and that most people agree on. I i think my a feeling about this is kind of pragmatic in the sense of, we want to be speaking broadly to americans, regardless of their political alignment. And when we aligne ourselves with like, a political side or faction, that that's bad. It's bad for our science, and it's bad forOur ability to affect policy and convince people that what we do is worth while.
